How can I fix this computer problem without brining it in. It has crashed, the CD drive is not working (contin

My computer crashed (windows vista) the CD drive is not working and was not working previously. I tried installing 2 different CD drives both which didn't work. I was going to put in a different hard drive with windows on it but I found out that all of my other old computers use older connection cords. IS this possible to fix? The floppy drive does work but idk if that will help. do i have to get someone to ghost it for me or what?
