Why is Allen Iverson retiring now? He's still young!!! What's the problem?
Allen's retirement is because he sees himself as a current marquee player. A lot of teams don't see him that way. Allen was a starter in High School...and became Mr. Basketball (and Mr. Football) for the State of Virginia. He started every game at Georgetown (even as a freshman). He started since his rookie season in Philadelphia. It is truly crazy to him to see himself coming off of a bench. I know many will say he has seen many teammates do this but it's one thing to watch others play this role and yourself go from MVP/ All-Star status to become the player, even when you believe you are better than the starters on a losing team. He decided to retire instead of sit behind Mike Conley and O.J. Mayo in Memphis. He's relatively young and I could see the right team drawing him back into the game. This team being a winning team and/ or a team with a startin for him.
