Why did the British naval officers need to have someone write their captivity speeches?

They kept reading a script and hardly looked away from it when they denounced Iran however they sure were not shy about giving noogies and high fives after their release. It seems like they could have talked about their experience without Tony Blair writing their speeches for them. Also isn't it kind of weird that they are soldiers and afraid of solitary confinement. If that was the worst thing that happened then why don't we stop isolation of our US prisoners if it is so inhumane and coercive? Should I stop watching MSnbc cause it is propoganda or let them form my opinion for me cause they say that the British soldiers were mistreated even though they showed no signs of distress when they methodically read their speeches?
