Oil tank question - should we add an additive to our oil tank or not?

is it okay to add an additive to our oil tank to stop any moisture freeze up in the line coming from the outside into the furnace? our oil company recommends doing this - should it be done or left alone? is it harmful to the furnace in any way? what have other people done for this. thanks for your response.
